My Own Downtown - Libby Langi
Downtown Rock Springs is my Downtown as I have been working Downtown Rock Springs for 8 almost 9 years. I have found that Downtown is more like a family. Business owners and staff in Downtown are polite and welcoming. I enjoy my shopping and visiting the many merchants we have. For example I get my morning dirty chai from Java Peddler, I enjoy afternoon shopping sprees at Rebel and Roots Boutique and I spend some lunch hours with friends at Sidekicks.
My favorite memory growing up in Rock Springs is when I was young my brother and I would gather all the nickels and dimes we could find then we would ride our bicycles to Bi Rite located in Downtown Rock Springs and buy all the swedish fish we could. At that time Swedish fish were 5 and 10 cents a piece. This is a heart warming memory of family I will always have.
Now that I am an adult and work in Downtown Rock Springs my heart is still warmed with new memories of seeing family’s enjoy Downtown as I and my brother have. I have seen children and families pass by Bitter Creek Brewing’s front window enjoying the weather, parade, even two young boys stopped and danced in front of Bitter Creek Brewing’s window one day. Naturally myself and staff danced as well. Next the two young boys walked away and came back for another dance number.
I encourage people to shop Downtown Rock Springs and support small business by checking out social media for these businesses, with the pandemic this is a great way to see daily deals and specials. Some business also have shopping and ordering online. When we support local we show appreciation for friends and family that work Downtown along with keeping dollars in Rock Springs and boosting our local economy.
The future of Downtown Rock Springs looks bright, we have many businesses and events that bring families Downtown to create their own heart warming memories. Check out Downtown Rock Springs on Instagram or Facebook to see upcoming events that are family friendly. With the URA’s help Downtown will not only grow but become a shopping and dining hub for Rock Springs.
