Meet the Snowman Stroll artists - Stephanie Lewis
Artist Biography:
Stephanie has loved art since she was a child. Her passion for art was put on the backburner for several years due to college, marriage, and children, but again became a central part of her life when she began her face painting and balloon art business in 2016. She has since been involved with teaching craft and painting classes, window painting, and creating projects for Downtown Rock Springs.
Artist Statement:
Stephanie created the Russian Nesting Doll inspired snowman titled "Nestled in Rock Springs." Her inspiration for her snowman came from several places. Her ancestry includes Russian immigrants who came to the USA in the early 20th century. Front and center is a rainbow with the iconic Home of Rock Springs Coal, hugged by Indian Paintbrush, Wyoming's state flower. Her husband works for Black Butte Coal Company and is grateful for the opportunities granted to her family because of this industry. The rainbow reflects the amazing support for the LGBTQ community in Rock Springs. The style of the rest of the snowman was heavily inspired by folk art as well as face painting techniques she uses with many of her face painting designs. "Nestled in Rock Springs" signifies the safety and security that Stephanie and her family have felt since moving to Rock Springs from Utah in 2010.
