How To Deal With The Boredom Blues

We've already played the "Comment a fruit without the letter E in it" on social media, watched Zoom meetings go terribly wrong on YouTube and washed that grey out of our hair with Nice 'N' Easy. COVID-19 has taken over the world and it has united us - so to speak. We're staying home, protecting each other. Lately, many people want normalcy. Insanity is pushing us over the edge. Are you wondering if you're going to be in a remake of "The Shining?" We can be like children and start using our imagination. We can be creative like young Rock Springs resident, Arlo Braly (right). Let's try some entertaining activities to do in Rock Springs from your own home!

It's Getting Loud In Here: Living Room Concert

Currently, we can't go to concerts; however, singers and instrumentalists from around Sweetwater County have been live streaming their performances on  Quarantine Cabaret on Facebook,  Sweetwater Live Music on Facebook and Living Room Concerts on Sweetwater NOW Google other performances you can watch on-line, support these artists and enjoy great music!

Bars Closed? No problem!

Speaking of music, grab a "cocktail in a pouch" from  Wyoming Club or  Joe's Liquor & Bar and play Extreme Bingo! Send a friend request to Kevin James Kolar , Owner of "Turn Up the Volume" DJ Services on Facebook and stay tuned for the time and day of the next game. Game times are also posted on the Rock Springs Classified on Facebook. Even people who aren't living in Wyoming are enjoying this fun activity so join us!

Cuddle with Cats and Dream with Dogs! (And Don't Forget to Pick Up a Book!)

Children can enjoy daily storytimes on Sweetwater NOW (Facebook LIVE)  and continue to learn something new!

You can also enjoy wine from Sidekicks Book and Wine bar   (curbside service - call ahead)

You can find e-books, digital movies, digital audiobooks and magazines on the Sweetwater County Library System website.

Adopting a new pet from the Red Desert Humane Society isn't a bad idea too. Former Rock Springs Library Reference Librarian, Ashley Jo Will is surrounded by her cats, Geordi, (top), Tuvok and Peaches as she reads "World War Z."

You can peek at the adorable photos of cats and dogs on the  Red Desert Humane Society Facebook page and  https://www.petfinder.com/. Once you choose the one that should be your new four-legged buddy, call the Red Desert Humane Society, 307-362-1636 for an application. After completing the application on-line, they will call you, pending approval, and you can meet your forever furry friend.

Plant A Garden and Believe in Tomorrow

As soon as the weather decides to behave, enjoy some fresh air and plant a garden! You might be pleasantly surprised by the results just as local resident, Levi Jensen was last year. The friendly folks at our neighborhood  Ace Hardware of Rock Springs will help you with your gardening needs.

Go On A Mural Walking Tour

You can still practice social distancing while looking at the beautiful, colorful murals around Downtown Rock Springs. It defines us as a community and attracts visitors annually. If you need some guidance, go to  https://www.publicartrs.com/

Cooking With The Kids

Maybe you're no Martha Stewart, but cooking together with your family can be fun. Go from quizzing your children on the multiplication tables to trying a new recipe. Even if your attempt at hibachi turns into a kitchen catastrophe, there's always Go Gal Delivery.   They can grab a meal from one of your favorite local restaurants like Bitter Creek Brewing , Broadway Burger Station, and  Casa Chavez Mexican Restaurant. Before you know it, you and your loved ones will have something fresh and delicious to eat!

You can also check out live steaming cooking classes at sweetwaterlibraries. com

Rock Hunting

You don't have to have a degree in Art to spread images and phrases of inspiration! Paint a rock or two, hide them and see if they're found on the Facebook group page, 307 Rocks. Hunting for rocks as a family can be a favorite activity too.

Staying Fit During Quarantine

Equilibrium Fitness Studio  is pleased to offer video 1 on 1 Personal Training with Emily through their new platform at efsrocksprings.yondo.com!
Send a personal message to Equilibrium Fitness Studio on Facebook if you would like more information! Stay healthy!!

Art Is Good Therapy

Community Fine Arts Center  is closed at this time but you can stay connected with the Arts by making art and sending it to [email protected] to be shared in their Daily Art Challenge album.

"Zoom" On Over to a Music Lesson with Pickin' Palace

You can get one on one instruction on Zoom! Call Dave or Todd at  Pickin' Palace , 307-362-5848 to sign up.

Shaken or Stirred: Learn How To Be A Bartender

Do you miss having an adult beverage at Bitter Creek Brewing? Kaelah will be demonstrating cocktail recipes LIVE on Facebook, every Saturday at 2 pm.

"Little Libraries" Continue To Pop Up In Our Community

Are you missing the Rock Springs Library as much as we are? You can still grab a book from the little free library at the corner of M & North Front Streets (or leave one for someone else to enjoy). You'll find other little free libraries in neighborhoods around Rock Springs such as Garcia Mobile Home Park, D Street, Summit Drive, and Western Wyoming Community College. The  Sweetwater County Library System   also has a TON of online resources available.
