Paul Ng: Three Decades of Photography
Local photographer Paul Ng has exhibited at the CFAC in the past and is bringing a new body of work to share.
Born outside of Guangzhou, China, Ng moved to Hong Kong as a teenager. Upon finishing his undergraduate in Biology and a master of science in Environmental Health in Tennessee, Ng relocated to the Rockies and settled in Rock Springs in 1980. He and his wife Betty, a retired special education teacher in Rock Springs, have one daughter Jessica, who completed her MBA and working in Las Vegas.
Ng has studied photography with former WWCC instructor Val Brinkerhoff, who now teaches at BYU. But his inspiration for black and white photography came first when looking at the images in John Sexton’s book “Quiet Light” and later was able to attend Sexton’s printing workshop at Carmel Valley, CA. Sexton was Ansel Adams’ last assistant and later on his consultant before Adams’ death in 1984. Ng also drew inspiration from studying the work of great wedding and portrait masters such as Dennis Reggie and David Peter.
